You mean you haven't witnessed his historic address to the White House Correspondents' Dinner? Oh. My. God. Bush sitting five feet away, and still he goes for the kill. It's the most courageous act of satire in history.

Part 1
Part 2

Did that really happen? that couldn't have really happened. but...my god. how'd i miss that?

and was that ralph sitting on bush's right?

You missed it because SC pissed off the fine representatives of the news industry that were present, so they buried the story. The "conventional wisdom" was that he wasn't funny. Hey, hardly anybody in the room was laughing, right?

If that were indeed Ralph sitting at the table, we'd surely have heard about it. If only because the matter/antimatter reaction would have blown up the place.

I always feel better somehow after watching SC or John Stewart. It's sooooooo validating not to mention cathartic.... deep, healthy belly laughs... Ahhhhhhhh!

Yep. Since all humor is based on pain, fear, and anger, this is a golden age for political satire.

His greatest moment, though, was his interview with Eleanor Holmes Norton in her Hill office. In a twist he could not have orchestrated, the bells went off to signal a roll call, and Colbert (this was a year ago) said "Wait, don't you have to go vote? -- Oh, right, sorry. Sorry."

That was brilliant. EHN acquitted herself very well in that interview too. I wonder if it's still on the Comedy Central website... (click, click, search, click) Ah! Here it is.

Yo, Rob. If you had been at the session last night I was going to ask you how to embed videos in blog posts like you did with the Colbert one here. But you weren't there, so I didn't. Instead, I'm asking you now. Hope you're feeling better!

On any video page on YouTube, if you look in the box to the upper right of the video, you'll see the embed code there. Just copy the code and paste it into the "Edit HTML" window (i.e. not the "Compose" view) of your post on Blogger.

For Comedy Central videos, just click on the "Embed" button below the video to get the code.

And I'm feeling much better, thanks. I had a pretty intense fever last night. If I'd come out, it would have been the Session of the Red Death.

That all sounds easy enough, except that the video I want to embed is not on either YouTube or Comedy Central. So I guess I'll look around on the site that has the video to see if they have a way to embed, and if not I guess I'll just use a link and live with the resulting loss of comedic value.

Last night's session was kinda sick anyway, so maybe you should have come. The music was great, but Philippe announced that he wasn't feeling well thanks to something he probably caught on the plane to/from Miami, and by the end Josh's throat was so bad that he was sounding like Barry White. Whatever it was he had, I don't think he got it from Philippe. I kept my distance from those two as much as possible, with no flute sharing at all, so hopefully I'll be okay...
